alice in wonderland

we just got the sickest, most wicked awesome reprints of the alice in wonderland illustrations on quilting fabric from windham in at my work. i need some...NEED!

right now im working on sorting fabrics from my collection to make into some dresses, jackets, and shifts. i have a lot of neat cotton prints, and am working with bias cutting...i picked up some amazing leather hides and silk velvet squares at a flea market over the weekend too. i really want to get knits nailed down this spring, and bias cuts. im inspired by MJ's ruffles too. normally im not that girly, but when you put ruffles with combat boots, it's a happy middle ground.

i recently succumbed to the apron trend as well. made one out of moda vintage reproduction tea toweling with cherries and apples....basically the whole thing is moda. moda cottons, moda trim...i'll have to take a picture of it next round.

camel, crazy wool coat!

so thanks to a fellow blogger and sewer who's also a MJ fiend, I found my latest inspiration for a coat. I was either going to do something very simplistic, like a grace kelly late 50's early 60's type of coat...the kind MJ threw down his 2007 runway....but i think i kinda dig the versatility of this one better. I bought this amazing wool felt stuff. it's super thick, like a nordic fleece, but it's camel or alpaca or some large wooly animal....im obsessed with it. cant wait to cut into it with my new samurai weapon sharp gingers!

im inspired!

so i went to B&N last nite and picked up the latest issue of vogue knitting. they have a great selection of patterns in this issue, and because i was trying to be good and only get one knitting magazine, i narrowed it down....it was a tough choice between the debbie bliss special issue and this one, but this had more variety, since I'm still not addicted or committed or fast or have enough extra $$ to spend on knitting sweaters. not yet.

there's a sweet hat pattern and also a capelette in the issue that im dying to make, and it done out of one of my favorite yarns too: berroco ultra alpaca. store discount, i love you!

i think this would be gorgeous for a wedding....and since i seem to have one i need to plan, it just might give me reason enough, and a nice way to eliminate the stress or knit away the anxiety, if i took this on...

back on track

i've neglected this poor lil blog. it needs juice. and i got it!!

been working on a leather bag in the style of marc jacobs 2006 sweet punk line, it's almost done.

i dug 2 jackets out of my closet that are near finished...so i think i'll finish them.

recently i've been really inspired by MARC JACOBS spring 09 looks and ALEXANDER WANG. there's a WANG jacket that im gonna play with. his is done in washed leather died to look like distressed denim, with black suede sleeves. im gonna do one in denim with probably wool sleeves...or knit. haven't decided yet.

im also finishing up a knit hat in black velvet

so this is my inspiration for my next project. more to come

another......

yes...another moon kitten. they are up on etsy along with their friends @ www.weshoyot.etsy.com. I've been really interested in using more japanese print fabrics, so the latest is the first of several oriental style ones.

i started my duvet cover too. got the top of it almost done, but put it aside as i need some other fabric for it too..

in other projects: i just bought the new issue of KNIT 1 and there's this old style rose bolero jacket in there im dying to make. we'll see if i cough up the dough on yarn to do it...

Moon Kittens #1

Everyone knows the Moon was once made out of cheese. Long, long ago the moon was populated by the Moon Kittens....soon the mice they ate ran out of cheese and the great Moon Kitten population declined with the downfall of the Moon Cheese and it's Moon Mice. After contacting a Raccoon sent into space, the Moon Kittens were informed of Earth-kind's love and abundance of cheese, mice and others of the feline kind. Space pods were constructed and the Moon Kittens sent their kind down to earth, filled with hope and dreams of cheese & mice.

All Moon Kittens are constructed by hand by Weshoyot Alvitre and copyright 2008.
